Color Curation: Rendezvous with Ravenous Reds

Red! Some will describe this as the color of romance, others of rage! But, today we’re going to delve into some of our best Reds in our collection.

Red has different meanings if you look at it from a global view point. Red in many Asian countries means good luck, as well as happiness. While it is said that Red in many Middle Eastern countries means danger or evil. The way we are socialized in our cultures, will often determine the way we perceive colors and their connotations. The use of the color Red dates back to prehistoric times, and was one of the first colors used in art and decoration. It’s no wonder it’s a favorite by many, it’s been around since the beginning of time!

Featured below are a few of our favorite images that speak for themselves.

This color has been around for so long we’ve even integrated the color into colloquialisms such as “seeing red”. I’m sure you’ve heard the expression before such as, “That jerk was so rude to me, I completely lost it, I was seeing red!” which is usually a bad thing. Or even expressions such as, “I caught the thief red handed!” As I’m sure you know, red is not only a color but also a part of our language. It’s integrated into our society, and will even determine actions such as the quote below suggests about traffic lights.

A Quote about the color red:

“On a traffic light green means go and yellow means yield, but on a banana it’s just the opposite. Green means hold on, yellow means go ahead, and red means where the hell did you get that banana at…”

Mitch Hedberg (American Comedian, 1968-2005)
