Wild Western Collection

Welcome to the Wild-Wild-Western Collection!

The Old West! The place of cowboys, indians, and tumbleweeds! Get out your boots with the  fur spurs folks, ‘cause it’s about to be a showdown! Take 10 paces and get ready to draw! Let’s be a little more creative here though, instead of drawing guns let me draw you a mental picture aided by actual pictures.

Western art has many inspirations, you’ll know this if you’ve ever traveled out to The Old West! Many signature elements of western art are turquoise, and edgy patterns, they’re contrasted with oranges, reds, and beige’s. Of course some of the main subjects in the Western Style are the famous Cowboys, and Indians (Native Americans is more accurate). Many of the images seen are of significant battles for territory, and resources. There are several different ways in which these subjects are portrayed, and it’s all up to the viewers’ interpretation.

The History of the West:

So, before we climb into the Western Decor Wagon let us take a moment to appreciate the birth of the West. The expansion of the west started with an idea that spread throughout the Colonies in the 19th Century. John O’Sullivan, who was a Newspaper editor at the time, coined a term that represented a common idea. This term was: Manifest Destiny. The idea at the time was that it was our right as Americans to expand the colonies by moving…West. There was a sense of adventure, excitement, and even religious undertones. The idea evolved from person to person, some believed that it was a God given right, and whatever lay out in the wild west it was their duty to convert and promote God’s word. Others believed it was more of a duty to our country, and would also show that we were becoming more stabilized. It was a means of showing America’s progress. To keep a long story short and not take up too much time, we did expand and The West is History! (The rest is history! Get it?) Hahah!

Romance Through the Ages

Love is in the air!

Ah yes! It’s a fresh new start to the year, things have started to settle down, and February is slowly creeping onward. The florists are prepping, the jewelers are polishing up their finest, and the chocolatiers are whipping up their best creations. Everyone is getting ready for the most lovable holiday of the year. Valentine’s Day will soon be upon us, are you ready? We are! So here’s a special love letter to you!

Dear Art Enthusiasts,

I’m sure most of us have had a few mixed emotions about this holiday. But, no need to get huffy! What we can tell you is that love is in the air, and Romance has been around through the ages. Whether you’re single and looking (or not), taken, or even married for years that you stopped counting; Romance will last through the ages.

For those of you singletons, don’t sweat it! One of the great things about love (that is commonly overlooked on the dreaded V-day) is you don’t have to have a significant other to appreciate this day. Everyone holds different interpretations; what’s yours? Years can pass by, and you won’t always have a date, but don’t take this as an offense. Love yourself. Respect yourself. Take a moment to remember that there’s always platonic love, and there’s nothing like love from your guardians. Take time to remember those that put in the effort to raise you, and help guide you into who you’ve become today. Valentine’s Day isn’t just about being single, or taken, it’s about respect for yourself and for others. Maybe you love your pet, your job, your hobby; whatever love you have embrace it! Celebrate it!

Let’s take a look at some interesting art from the days of yore all about romance, from our Collection. If you’re lucky, we’ll even hold your hand. But, don’t get frisky!

This cute couple shown here is a famous Impressionist Styled piece by Edouard Manet.

We’ve noticed many Tumblr fans would love to see Disney do an Impressionistic Movie. A fellow blogger has illustrated their interpretation below! Pretty neat right?

Here’s a young woman shown in elegance with a love letter and roses!

Sometimes you’ll see public displays of affection, love can do that to people. Like this young couple on the subway!

Or this couple from what looks like a long journey back to each other!

Here’s a couple so in love they’re dancing in the streets! Try it! Safely of course!

Robert Frost couldn’t have said it any better!

Love Always,

Cuisine Art

Cuisine Art, Culinary Creations, and a Combo to go!

Are you hungry for art? Pizza, pasta, hot dogs, fresh fruit, is it lunch time yet? We’re not sure about you, but we absolutely love food. To the Foodies of the world, we raise our glasses and praise you! Mmmmm Food!

The great thing about food is it’s easy to celebrate in artwork, and even easier in real life. You can see it across the globe, in different countries. Everyone’s gotta eat! Cuisine art is very popular in kitchens, cafes, and bars. Think about it, what’s more inspiring than your favorite dishes proudly displayed in the very place where they’re created? Cuisine or Culinary Art is a celebration of food, drink, and the culture surrounding the two. Everyone eats, and a common question is “What’s for Dinner?”

Mealtimes aren’t just to enjoy delicious food, they’re also seen as time well spent with friends and family. It’s a common tradition to either go out and eat for a celebration, or to have a meal with close family. Take time to think about the holiday season, most holidays  take Cuisine into consideration. Cuisine Art is just as important, as it emphasizes and reminds us of those times, and those special meals. Have you ever had a big bowl of soup on a dreary miserable day? Or possibly on a day you were sick? This is when that soup not only becomes a wonderful meal, but it’s a symbol as well. Or have you had a fresh summer fruit on a hot day? They become links in our minds to our favorite memories. I’m sure if you think about it hard enough you can even smell your favorite food being made. Is your mouth watering yet?

Admit it, you know you’ve stood in front of your fridge, door open, wondering what delicious goodness to ingest. Everyone’s done it, there’s nothing to be ashamed of. So, when you take time to decorate, seriously consider some Cuisine Art on your walls. Some of the most stylish designs can even incorporate Cuisine Art into uncommon spaces. It’s a daring and bold move, but it’s definitely one that we can all appreciate.

Here are a few pieces we think are absolutely delectable!

Abstract Art: The Appeal of Audacity

Don’t miss out on sale, save 30% Off our entire Abstract Art Collection. Be sure to check out artists such as Mark Rothko, Eva Carter, and Odilon Redon!

Abstract art, is definitely one of the most visually interesting styles in the art world. The style itself doesn’t seem to have any restraint, if anything it’s a colorful mess of fun. Usually abstract art can (and cannot) be characterized by shapes, forms, and colors that create more of a visual language than a clear cut image. You usually won’t see detailed figures, or any one thing that defines the picture as a whole. What you see is usually a visual that is left to the viewers imagination. The beauty of the abstract style is really that the viewer is in control of what message they receive.

You’ve probably seen or heard references of people standing in a museum looking at an image, and one person goes, “This piece really moves me, I can see the passion through the linear strokes the artist created. It’s a tragically romantic, with an essence of sexuality.” while a second person may say, “I see a rowboat, and a man lost at sea.” The beauty of abstract art is its against-the-grain-attitude. People will interpret Abstract pieces differently, and instead of an image of a fruit basket, or a bouquet of flowers these pieces challenge the viewer to dig deeper into themselves for meaning.

It’s an introspective challenge to find meaning, or maybe it’s not meant to have any meaning at all. That’s how it’s beautiful and audacious. In a way, lots of artists won’t challenge their audience, they’ll present a beautiful image and the viewer knows exactly what it is. But this style, it pushes you to think deeper, to experience more, to find meaning in it, or to choose to not find meaning at all.

Not only are these pieces visually intriguing, they look stunning in living spaces. If you’re having help visualizing some of these piece we’ll give you a few examples. Here’s a few images from our Pinterest community of how beautiful pieces of Abstract art can complement spaces to create a stunning atmosphere.

Frames in History:
Art and framing go hand in hand. Frames date back even further than the 12th and 13th century in Europe. In the 14th and 15th century is when Frames started to flourish more within churches. They became part of the architecture of many churches around Europe; the frames were immovable. It wasn’t until the later 15th century that we began to see frames enter homes of nobles. From that point forward it became more and more common to see movable frames, and changes to the art that occupied them. It’s been an evolutionary process that continues to change to this day. There are multitudes of frames, styles, and artistic ways to represent art. But one of the key foundations has been The Frame.

End of Summer Canvas Sale!

Cool Off With Creative Canvas Pieces!

It’s Summer! What better way to cool off your summer, than with a sensational sale on a cool canvas piece?! For a limited time only we’re offering 40% off of all our Stretched Canvas Pieces! #beach #ship #canvas

Stretched canvas pieces are appealing, they bring a different take to the representation of art on a wall. You can frame canvas, or you can leave it without a frame. Either way depends on the style or mood you’re trying to create for your space.

#waves #beach #canvas
Canvas pieces will attract the eye directly to the feel of the canvas fabric. Canvas prints are unlike digital prints, which are printed on paper. Canvas is printed on fabric, which will give the eye even more texture to look at, even the feel of a canvas piece is cool and different!

#beach #sunset #canvas
Canvas has been an attractive medium for artists, dating back to nearly the beginning of the history of art! The fabric provides a more comfortable structure for the image to nearly “breathe”, and is a favorite of many oil painting artists. The give and take that the fabric provides, is an excellent medium for the ever changing artists mind.

When choosing a piece, keep in mind the different options you have with canvas. You can choose a bar depth, which is essentially how far away you’d like your piece to stick out from the wall.

You also have the option of adding a material liner to the front of your piece, which is a nice finishing touch to many pieces.

There’s the option of a “Gallery Wrap” which means the image is mirrored along the sides. Or, if you’re feeling bold you can choose the “Museum Wrap”, which means you choose what bold solid color you want along the sides of your canvas piece. Of course if you’re framing your canvas piece no one is likely to see the sides, as they’ll be concealed by the frame, but again that’s your choice.

#palmtrees #beach #canvas

Ah, choices, choices! There are so many elements that help to create the perfect piece of work to adorn your walls. What will you choose? Good luck!
